I’m a mother of two, stepmother to one, wife to a hard working Detective Sgt and proud red-head (colour may vary by season). I live in Suffolk which, if you’re not acquainted, is 70 miles(ish) north east of London which lays claim to a beautiful coastline and gently undulating countryside sharing the Dedham Vale (Gainsborough and Constable country) with North Essex. Despite its low key nature we have our share of celebs: Ed Sheeran belongs to ‘us’ (the castle on the hill is Framlingham) and Bill Nighy once said hello to me as we fought past the chippy queue in Aldeburgh. We also have one of the world’s largest ports which is in no way aligned to the transport infrastructure…my first motorway driving experience was the M25. If the tourist board is looking for a spokesperson I’m happy to help. After 15 years of commuting away from my home I’ve fallen back in love.
I’m happiest when with family, friends or on my bike. Ultimately I’d like my family and friends to join me but cycling is mostly an individual passion and I’m generally #suffolkbybike . I’m currently working on my road endurance (which has meant cutting out the coffee stop) and conquering the level 2 route in the MTB play-park (which involves falling off less). If that makes me sound like a fitness junkie then let me reassure you that it’s aspirational not actual. I cycle for gin. And cake. I’m also a wannabee yogi although as a late starter I have some catching up to do in my practice. My relaxing destination of choice are the alps, particularly Switzerland. My banner photograph includes part of the range viewed from Grindelwald.
I dabble in social media nowadays. I’m on Twitter (@bhamiltonbruce) although an advance warning that its mostly photos of places I’ve been on my bike these days!
